Red Sox Nation Celebrates 4th with Win Over Empire

Is Captain Ameritek now out of his slump? (SawxBlog Illustration)
The Red Sox built off of their Thursday night win with a come from behind victory over the New York Yankees in a wild Fourth of July game. The game started off not looking so hot for Josh Beckett or the Red Sox, however Beckett settled down and by the power vested in Iron Mike Lowell, they pulled off the comeback win to drive the Yankees nine games out of first in the AL East. This leads me to two things:
- V-Tek - I heard people mention his catcher gear as both an outfit and a costume yesterday, and yes it was a little over the top to say the least. By going 2 for 4 and skyrocketing his average to .223 does this mean Jason's out of his slump? He did strike out the other two times up, but who knows, maybe dressing up like Captain America was the slump buster Varitek needed. We'll see today.
- Johnny Demon - That play in the top of third was one of the craziest plays I've ever seen in a Red Sox vs. Yankees game, and that's saying a lot. It's like when these two teams play each other it's bizzarro baseball world where the impossible becomes possible. It was a great effort by Johnny Turncoat, but he should have held onto that ball, all momentum turned after he dropped that. Seeing the ball dance on top of the wall was pretty nuts too. We'll be seeing replays of this for a long time to come, photographic evidence lies below.

I'm not sure one good game constitutes coming out of slump, but if not, then maybe one not so good game today isn't being back in it. But I think it'll take more than a novelty outfit to get him hitting again.

It's going to take a whole lot of something, and I really hope Tek finds it out...
