Tim Wakefield won last nights duel against former Yankee and fellow forty year old Randy Johnson 5-0 in a great night at Fenway. Tim pitched just a wonderful game giving up only two hits over 7.0 innings. The win brought Wake back to .500 on the year (5-5) and lowered his ERA to 3.88.
Kevin Cash's homerun in the eight inning (kind of a magical inning in this series for the Sox huh?) sealed the deal for the the Sox, and allowed Papelbon to come in and seal the deal after a semi-shaky performance from Craig Hansen. It'd be nice if both of our catchers can continue with the momentum they gained from this series and start breaking out of the slump they've been in. Combined both Varitek and Cash are hitting a Doug Miribelli-like .236 which, lets face it, just isn't acceptable. The Sox have the night off as they conclude their interleague schedule in Houston and look to get their 50th win of the year. Let's hope Dice-K's last start was just and aberration.
