Justin Masterson Gets First MLB Win

The Boston Red Sox followed up the hard act of Jon Lester's no hitter with another fabulous effort by a young Red Sox pitcher, this time in the form of Justin Masterson. Masterson had a great night pitching with 6.1 innings and giving up only 1 ER off of 3 hits. Continuing to see these young Sox pitchers go at it like this still amazes me, even though I should be used to it by now. It makes the Red Sox so good, and if arms can stay healthy, stay good for awhile to come. Not your Granddad's Red Sox indeed.
And from all the trials and tribulations that the Red Sox have been through this early in the season with travel, the super flu, and a couple scary losing streaks we find ourselves sitting on this May 21, 2008 with more wins then any other team in the Bigs at 29. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. The magic and confidence a no-hitter and five game win streak can install in a team sure is grand, and it's a crest I want to keep riding.
Tonight should be very interesting as Bartolo Colon takes a crack at his comeback with his first MLB start of the year, hopefully he's large and in charge as the Sox go for six in a row.
