The most "Papilar" Red Sox may finally be back on track. (AP Photos / SawxBlog Montage)
How good did it feel to see Papi hit that grand slam last night? I think I, along with the rest of Red Sox Nation, held my collective breath for just a moment (after screaming "GOOOO!!!!" at the TV screen), as I tried to will the ball to clear the monster. This could truly be exactly the hit that Ortiz truly needed to help jumpstart his 2008 season and get out of quite possibly the worst slump of his career. Seeing how the big man was greeted in the clubhouse was another great sign too, as Ortiz was ignored by the rest of the Sox as he came back to the bench. After a few moments they finally all jumped on him and congratulated him, as Papi beamed with the smile in baseball.
Seeing things like that really humanize this team for me and make love the Sox all that more. It's great seeing them have fun, and it's good to know that sooner or later, somewhere down the road, Papi will be Papi again, and he self imposed pressure, along with the pressure from fans like us, will whittle down to a more bearable level. You have to remember, it's only April, we don't have Mikey Lowell, and we're still scoring lots of runs and winning games.
Which leads me to Mr. Jed Lowrie. Does it seem like this guy has all the makings to be a star on this team or what? The shot NESN had of Pedroia, Ellsbury, and Lowrie last night must still have Theo and his crew beaming. The solace I get from knowing the right people are finally driving the SS Red Sox after all these years is beyond reassuring. No more racist good ol' boy country club like atmosphere, just a sound philosophical and disaplined approach to putting competitive ballclubs on the field today and for tomorrow. Wow, you feel the love coming off of this post, it's a good sign for '08.
Lastly, don't look know but Dice-K is now 4-0 (remember, it's only April 19th) with an ERA of 3.14. He hasn't looked unstopable or really even like an ace, but he has to be doing something right with numbers like that, and with time he should only get more comfortable.
Let's Go Bruins!!!

Much to the chagrin of Ms. SawxBlog the NHL playoffs have reinvigorated my excitement for hockey and I've been watching every Bruin vs. Canadian game. Jeannine (Ms. SawxBlog) is trying to convince me that there's a four sport quota in our apartment, but I'm not so sure about that!
There's nothing quite as intense as a really good, physical NHL playoff series, especially when it's as classic as a match-up and B's vs. Habs. The Bruins have shown and incredible amount of heart in this series and I'm pulling extra hard for them to force a Game 7 tonight.
PS - This may be officially the first ever Boston Bruin mention on SawxBlog ever...
