As good as the Sox were looking and feeling about a week a go is about as bad as they're looking now. This is the first of many lessons for us as fans, and it's a lesson of humility. The baseball season is long and grueling, and the inevitable losing streak is bound to roll up and hit you.
What's a little alarming here though is that our previous winning streak wasn't really all that impressive. If you remember we had to transform into the comeback kids more then once to win those games. The four game losing streak now has the Sox tied for first with the Orioles and officially makes the D-Rays the hottest team in the AL East, strange...
It truly is a shame that Buchholz couldn't snag the win last night because he looked like the kid we shouldn't trade for anyone. The way he was stalking that mound made him look like a baby Beckett, and was just plain exciting to watch. I wonder if Tito put him out there an inning too long, but this is hind side, and that's always easier. Big Beckett looks to be the ace and stopper today, and boy could we use a Beckett type of performance, too bad the one last night was wasted.
