Bill Buckner Returns To Fenway, As Red Sox Rout Tigers On Ring Day

Any day the Red Sox celebrate a World Series victory is a good day in my book. (SawxBlog Montage / AP Photos)
Well if yesterdays wonderful opening day ring ceremony showed us anything, it's that the Red Sox can still put on a show without Dr. Charles Steinberg. Opening day at Fenway Park couldn't be anymore perfect as the Sox shutout the Tigers, received their World Series (blinging) rings), and finally welcomed home a fallen hero.
The reception that Bill Buckner received was beyond well deserved and hopefully can write the final painful chapter of his Red Sox journey. Too often Buckner was the fall guy for what happened back in 1986, when in reality it was a calamity of errors that cost us that series, not one error. I'm so happy that Bill Buckner and his family could spend a day with the Red Sox once again, and be welcomed back with open arms and a smile.
As far as the actual game went you couldn't really ask for anything else. Dice-K (2-0) once again looked great as he K'd 7 and dropped his three game ERA to 1.47. On the other side Youk kept up his blistering pace with 3 hits and a BB raising his average to .400.
In the end a beautiful day, it looks pretty natural and right to see baseballl games played in Fenway huh? Just seems right, and yesterday, everything was right for the Red Sox and their fans.
