The Red Sox Rolling Rally was the final salute and run for the 2007 Boston Red Sox as we know them, and what a send off it was. Obviously it's always going to be a special day when your team has its championship parade, however whether it's been the Red Sox or Patriots, I always get a little taken aback by the sheer numbers that are represented in Boston. I think a large reason for this is because these teams, for the most part, are the teams of not just Boston fans, but New England fans, and especially with the Red Sox, well beyond New England into the Nation and globe.

The scene around Copley was pretty nuts with people lining the streets of Boylston well before 9:00am. All sorts of chants were being sparked well before and after the parade rolled through with horns going off and the excitement was in the air for most of the day. They switched the American League Champion flag on top of the Old Hancock building to a World Series Champion flag (photos can be seen in gallery 3), and there was even a plane doing sky writing. It was basically a really big block party with a whole lot of young people and families.

It's a little sad seeing the parade too, because it truly does mark the official end of the baseball season. However like every Red Sox off season, there's always a ton of intrigue, and SawxBlog will have a lot to talk about. Between Mike Lowell, Curt Schilling, our young players, A-Rod, the Yankee turnover, and all other points in between, our material is endless.

SawxBlog will also be ramping back up our baseball book and baseball DVD reviews as well as "officially" launching SawxBlog TV, which will have playlists of your favorite Red Sox videos, along with some SawxBlog originals. So stay tuned, and it was great going through a championship season with you all. I'm already looking forward to 2008.

Live from the 2007 Red Sox Rally Parade Part - 1

I know that a lot of Red Sox Nation is unable to be in Boston for the Rolling Rally today so I figured I'd try to give people a taste for what the scene is like. I'm in my office at work which is right on Boylston Street and lets just say it's a little distracting trying to get work done! There have been people screaming and honking horns outside since 9:00am, and trust me, it's not too warm out. The closer it's getting to noon the louder it is, and there's more people gathering. The shot above was taken at like quarter to 10.

I'll be heading downstairs around noon to catch whatever chaos ensues in Copley Square and will be sure to take some good pics. More to come in a bit.

Red Sox & World Series Trophy Back in Beantown

The Boston Red Sox arrived back to Boston and Fenway Park to the cheers of the Fenway Faithful yesterday a little after 4:00pm. I was watching on NESN and it was pretty fun to see our boy get off the bus hung over as all hell. When Katheryn Tappen interviewed David Ortiz you could totally tell that Big Papi was running on fumes. The only player who seemed to not be half asleep that NESN did interview was (no surprise here) Jonathan Papelbon. Our crazy closer was wild eyed as ever, however he did mention that he got zero sleep and spent his entire morning throwing up. Classic, you got to love that guy.

I'll be attending the rally today since it basically will be running right past my office and will be sure to get some pics from it up later today, should be a total blast. For now check out some pretty decent links about the Red Sox and their Championship run.

  "Sunday, in the relative quiet of a Boston clubhouse after the game, young pitcher Jon Lester stood facing reporters, a beer can shoved down his back by a teammate and the World Series trophy in his hands. He echoed the feeling of Red Sox players, owners and fans everywhere.
  "I got beer dripping down my butt and I got this thing in front of me," he said, lifting the trophy. "This is great."

Tomorrow we get to see this again, and I can't wait. What a surreal week and a half. Amazing.
