World Series Game 2 Preview, SawxBlog on the Radio, & More

Youk's sweat is...STRONG.
Youk can sweat more then any human alive, someone needs to call up Guinness. (SawxBlog Illustration)

Game 2 of the 2007 World Series is a mere three hours away and I can't wait to get it started, so what better way to get past the time then look at what the keys are for the Red Sox to take a 2-0 lead in the Series.

Youk & Froto are the Key
It's been said a lot, but if Youk and Froto Pedroia can get on base, it most likely will be another win tonight for the Red Sox. You have to love the 1, 2 punch of these guys, I mean they're the prototypical Red Sox players. They're weird, they're dirty, they're unorthodox, and they're freaking good. If these two were fantasy characters Pedroia would obviously be a hobbit and Youk would be a viking dwarf. I love these guys. Take a look below at each of the Red Sox playoff wins this year and tell me Youk and Froto aren't pivotal, especially the last few games.

World Series Game 1 - 3/10, 3 RBI, 2 BB
ALCS Game 7 - 6/10, 7 RBI, 5 R, 0 BB
ALCS Game 6 - 5/8, 1 RBI, 4 R, 2 BB
ALCS Game 5 - 4/8, 3 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB
ALCS Game 1 - 3/8, 0 RBI, 4 R, 1 BB
ALDS Game 3 - 2/8, 2 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB
ALDS Game 2 - 1/9, 0 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB
ALDS Game 1 - 2/8, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 BB

If you're looking for a good article on these two check out this NY Time article (thanks to J9).

The Big Schill Shall Thrill
Curt Schilling, like Josh Beckett, is a big game pitcher. Both aces are at different points of their respective careers right now, with Beckett entering his prime, and with Schilling reinventing himslef as  a location pitcher. The big difference here is they both have that "it" factor. The boys just seem to take themselves to a higher level when playing in big games, and neither seems to really disappoint.

People seem to think Schilling hasn't been Schilling this post season, however the numbers don't lie. He hasn't been lights out, and yes he had one bad outing, but he's had two useful and effective starts, and especially in Game 6 of the ALCS.

IP      H   K   BB    ER
7.0    6    4    1      0
4.2    9    3    0      5
7.0    6    5    0      2

The biggest thng about the above stats, is that Schilling is not, much like Beckett, giving up free bases with walks. If you're going to beat Schilling you're going to have to do it the old fashioned way, and that's with hits.

This was the first time I've been to a game with my Dad since the early 90's and it was just awesome, especially with everything that happened with my Mom a few weeks ago. I know she was watching the game with us and had to have been happy to see us happy.

Marathon Monday (Patriots Day) is a great tradition in Boston. The Sox always start early in the a.m. and the marathon is on it's final stage right outside of Kenmore as the game lets out. This is a photo tour of our experiance, enjoy!

This past Mothers Day I was visiting Chicago and attended a Cubs/Phillies game. This was my first time at Wrigley Field and I was embraced by my NL cousins. Chris & I represented the Red Sox and I was congratulated on the 2004 season by numerous Cubbie fans. Here you'll find 11 pics from the game.

    2005 BDD Playoff Push Party

    • Bar & TV's
Boston.com and Boston Dirt Dogs had a playoff push party at Game On! in Fenway Park on September 19. The game didn't go so well as the Sox lost, however, a lot of people had a good time hanging out while getting to "meet" the trophy!

    2004 World Series: Game One

    • Mounted Police
My brother Chris flew into Boston from Chicago to help me root on and pull for the Sox in the Series. We went right from Logan Airport to the Park and ended up watching the game across the street from Fenway at Bills Bar on Landsdown Street. We looked into scalping tickets but standing room only were going for $1,200 and up!This was a great and memorable day to be able to be with my brother in Boston to see the Red Sox in the World Series. This is a snap shot of two weeks of my life that provided a lot of sorrow, joy, sleep deprivation, and hangovers. Two of the best weeks of my life...
