Remember when Millar used to do this for the good guys? (AP Photo)
Posting today is no easier then it was yesterday, and now...yes, I'm beginning to panic a little bit. I wouldn't necessarily allow myself to call it panic before, but how we lost the two games in Baltimore this past weekend have helped me shed that monkey, and yes, panic it is.
It looks like the Yankees may have gotten the bullpen help they were looking for in Eric Gagne, the only problem here is that Eric's been pitching for the Red Sox and not the MFY. Gagne, the former 2003 Cy Young Award winner, singlehandedly has made the best bullpen in MLB not look so good at all. He hasn't gotten a single 1,2,3 inning since joining the Red Sox, and his ERA for us has to be about 123,873. Blame Canada indeed.
Our lead in the AL is now only 4 games, the smallest margin we've had since May 1 (For those of you out there that are a little slow, that's ONE day before APRIL). Heck with Schilling saying things like the below, the Yankees should forget about the Wild Card and start thinking about the AL East.
"They're playing a whole lot better than we are right now. It's that simple, they're winning and we're not. But the answers are here in this room, and we're going to find them."
They sure are playing better, and the answers, for this weekend at least, were not in the bullpen, and the answers were most certainly not wearing a pair of goofy looking glasses. At least Gagme isn't afraid to shoulder some of the blame though.
"We should have won three games out of three and I ... blew two of them, they brought me in to do a job and I'm not doing it. It's ridiculous. These guys play eight great innings and I go out there and blow it. It's a shame."
Shame indeed. We had the best record in baseball before you joined Eric, we better keep it that way, because you've singlehandedly helped make this fan enter into panic mode.
In a sign of some good news J.D Drew has absolutely been on fire since he started having a posse. So of all the things you'd like to blame our current state on, and J.D.'s been a favorite for a lot of blame from people this year, you can't look Mr. Drew's way. Since SawxBlog has formed his posse J.D.'s hitting 0.550 with a 0.591 OBP. For a complete run down of how he's been doing, please see below. J.D. Drew Has A Posse.
