The great debate of 2007 can now finally be laid to rest. Kevin Youkilis is faster then Dustin Pedroia. Do you have any doubt that His Youkness would have made it a close play at home? This calls for Alex Cora to start every game at 2B going forward now. In all seriousness though, the May AL Player of the Month should have made it home. On a two out fly ball to deep, deep center that is only a foot away from being out of the park you have to score. And I don't really want to hear about how they arrived at 5:30am that morning and they were tired from playing the night before. These are highly paid professional ball players, suck it up. And as far as that Cora comment, obviously kidding, Froto Pedroia's my boy.
The Red Sox did do a great job in fighting back and making it a ballgame despite Joel Pinero's best efforts to suck (and I don't use that word lightly) the game away from them. In the end we had our JV squad out there that almost pulled off a great come from behind win.
Eric WIlbur makes a great point when stating that even with the Sox losing four out of five games (there worst losing streak of the season...which also says a lot) the hometown Red have lost all but 0.5 game in the standings. This is going to be an interesting road trip as far as lineups go, but the Sox should come out all right after the games since the competition isn't all that much to fret about. These West Coast games are killer though, there is just nothing cool about a game ending at 2:00am.
