I would like to take some time out to thank everyone who's helped make SawxBlog the success it has become over the last few years. This time of the year is a time of reflection and I couldn't have done this without the support and push from the following people:
My beautiful girlfriend Jeannine who's put up with my baseball obsession better then I could have ever imagined. Her proof reading of certain posts (the ones without mistakes!) and input has been invaluable. My mother and father for raising (brainwashing the Sox part!) me and my family to not only be die hard Red Sox fans but also to be great people. My brothers and sister, Linda, Chuck, and Chris. Their support and advice has also been amazing and I wouldn't be half the person I am today if it wasn't for them. All my friends near and far who frequent the site and help spread the good word of SawxBlog, especially, but not limited to: Eye Doctor Rog, Chuckles, Dr. J (Josh), Kris, The Somerville Sydney Street Crew, Zac, Benny, Poker Sean, Tom-Oh, Jose, Tyler, Mr. Freund, Kevin, and many more that I'm obviously leaving out.
I'd also like to thank Dave Pinto from Baseball Musings and Steve Silva from Dirt Dogs, for help getting me started and create an audience for SawxBlog. Also special thanks to Gene Taft and George Mitrovich for having me attend The Great Fenway Park Writers Series at Fenway Park.
Lastly I'd like to especially thank everyone who reads this blog. The Sox, and baseball, are a passion of mine that I feel blessed to share in any way with others. I think blogs such as SawxBlog, Surviving Grady, Joy of Sox, Peter's Red Sox forever are important. When you're reading these you're getting honest, non-media skewed perspective from the people who are the most important, the fans. Players and superstars come and go, we know this especially the last few years.
In a modern age where team loyalty by athletes is a thinning line the fans are becoming almost more important. Players may leave, but the true fans never will, and no matter your team I salute and thank you for that on this day. It's people like you who keep the spirit of the game pure and fun.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, have a safe day, and please remember not to drink and drive.
Many thanks to all again,
Derek Hixon
