The San Diego Padres ended their playoff run last night as the St. Louis Cardinals pulled away from a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 6th inning. San Diego had a good year, thanks in large part to a lot of former Red Sox players, however they just looked overmatched by the Cards.
The Cardinals are in the NLCS for the third year in a row which is truly an impressive achievement. I think the Mets will give them a tough fight, I just don't think the Mets are strong enough to win a seven game series. We'll see though, I've been pretty much wrong on every playoff prediction I've made this year!
For what it's worth I'll say it'll be the Tigers vs. Cards in the World Series. I think the momentum and emotion Detroit is riding will carry over into the ALCS. This can also be viewed as a negative aspect as well, but I don't see the Tigers folding now.

I'm a little dissapointed in you D. I have spent the last 5 years in Boston watching the Red Sox in the playoffs with you (almost every single game..if not EVERY single game).
My team finally makes the playoffs, you under estimate them in all of your articles leaving them for dead against a far inferior team simply cause they are lacking some starting pitching (even though they won the season and the best record in baseball off of their bats and bullpen).
And on top of it all, I didn't receive one single call from you to even hint to watch any of the games with me. I'm dissapointed.

I did state how I've been worng on pretty much every predicition I've made, so maybe I've been using reverse psychology on the games via the blog ;-)
As far as not watching any of the Mets games with ya' so far, that's my bad. Where we watching Game 1 tomorrow? My place? Yours? Avenue?
I'm down with whatever.
Go Mets!
