"That was one of the most exciting moments I've ever experienced on the baseball field." - Mark Loretta
"One of the best catches I've ever seen when I'm pitching." - Mike Timlin
"It was one of the best plays I've ever seen." - David Wright
"Under the circumstances, the time of the game, the score, and everything like that, I don't think I've ever seen a better play." - Terry Francona
"He stretches out like that and makes an unbelievable catch like that, you just have to tip your hat. The ballgame would have been different if the ball had gotten by him, but you have to give him credit on an unbelievable catch like that . . . Closed the gap real quick on a do-or-die play. Came up big." - Willie Randolph
"You can't, save a game any more spectacular than that." - Mike Lowell
The above quotes should give you some understanding on just how large and amazing of a catch it was that Coco Crisp had last night. Center-field was, and is, the position I've played just about my entire baseball life, and that catch was just plain naughty fresh. I've always taken more pride, and had more fun, playing good defense, and seeing what Coco did last night was very impressive. Aside from "The Catch", he helped out the club in so many other ways last night. His bunt single and steal were the keys in giving the Red Sox the go-ahead run that gave us our 12th win in a row.
It's glaringly obvious now how important consistent good defense is, and the Sox have now tied the ML record for consecutive games without an error at 16. Our pitchers have so much more confidence then other clubs because of the 8 guys they have playing behind them. I can't remember a time where it's been this fun to watch the Red Sox play games because of how well rounded they are on all sides of the ball.
Schilling and Beckett are now a combined 20-5 on the season, and we've run off this win streak with basically only a 4 man rotation. Impressive, impressive, IMPRESSIVE.
The Sox look to make it a baker's dozen tonight as another spot starter, Jason Johnson, looks to keep the good times rolling. You almost wish the All-Star break wasn't coming up with how hot we are, but we'll take the wins against whoever, whenever, and however. What a streak and team this is becoming though!

Derek that catch was just outstanding. A lot of people might not be thinking of this but I don't think Johhny Damon would have caught it. This young man will make Sox fans foget him fast if he keeps playing like he has been. Love Dad
