Team USA does some "sprints" (AP Photo)
Team USA kicks off their World Baseball Classic bid today at 4:00pm when Roger Clemens toes the rubber against Team Mexico. No Boston Red Sox are getting the start for this game, although Timlin is a possibility of coming in later in the game. The game shouldn't really be too big of a contest but it'll be exciting to see our country be represented. The real game to scoreboard watch today is the Dominican Republic vs. Venezuela at Disney's Wide World of Sports Stadium in Florida. Hopefully Big Papi represents the DR well as the Dominicans look to seek some revenge on Venezuela after the loss in the Caribbean Series. Below you will find the starting line-up Buck Martinez is using today for Team USA today.
1. Johnny Damon -- LF
2. Derek Jeter -- SS
3. Ken Griffey -- CF
4. Alex Rodriguez -- 3B
5. Mark Teixeira -- DH
6. Derrek Lee -- 1B
7. Brian Schneider --C
8. Randy Winn -- RF
9. Chase Utley -- 2B
"Game 6" Opens in Theaters March 10th

OK, I'll be the first to admit that when I received an e-mail announcing the release of a movie that uses Game 6 of the 1986 World Series as a backdrop I think I vomited a little bit in my mouth. Seriously. Since the 2004 Championship watching painful Red Sox highlights of years past has been easier, but it's still a tired angle that I, and a lot of other Red Sox fans, are more then a little sick of. I gave "Game 6" the benefit of the doubt though, and checked out the trailer and I have the say I was intrigued from the very start. Not only did it look like a well put together movie, but they were using one of my favorite bands, Yo La Tengo, for the trailer music.
The super quick premise for the movie is that a playwright (Michael Keaton) who lives in New York and is a die-hard Red Sox fan has a lot of s*** hit the fan on the day of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. His play is opening that night, and he opts to watch the game instead of go to the play. The movie looks a little dark (imagine that) and may be the anti-Fever Pitch, which is beyond a good thing. The trailer flipped a 180 on my opinion of this movie, and I'm going to check it out this weekend with a full review to follow. It looks well shot, with some good acting, how they approached the subject matter, and the Red Sox in particular, will be another story all together, and I'm going to hope for the best here.
